The one-way record was held by a Hennessey Venom GT, which recorded 270.49 miles per hour (435 km/h).
277.9mph - and that's the average. On Saturday, factory driver Niklas Lilja reached 277.9 miles per hour (447.1km/h) in one of the company's Agera RS hypercars. The speed in other, uphill, upwind direction was 271mph. This is not the first time that Koenigsegg broke a world record held by Bugatti, as it happened just last month. While the Bugatti did it in 42 seconds, the Agera RS only took 37.28 seconds on the same surface, an old Danish airfield dating back to World War II.
It's the final, ultimate model in the company's long-serving Agera line.
The factory spec Agera RS he was driving has a 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine which produces 1,360bhp, 1,011 lb ft of torque.

Hennessey failed to take the speed record, however, because the vehicle only completed one run and the title-holder is required to make two runs down the same stretch of tarmac in opposite directions.
The two runs took place on Nevada's Route 160 between Las Vegas and Pahrump. In early October, Koenigsegg shattered the 0-400-0 km/h world record set by the Bugatti Chiron just weeks earlier, with a 1,360-hp (1,014-kW) Agera RS destined for a customer in the US.
Even the much lower average was high enough to eclipse the record set by Bugatti's Veyron 16.4 Super Sport in 2010, at 431 km/h (268 mph). Tyres are the limiting factor, with the potential consequences of a tyre failure at 200mph+ fairly terrifying. You'd hesitate to call Michelin's Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres "stock" given their capability, nevertheless they are still Y rated - which means that the manufacturer guarantees them up to 186mph; quite some way from 277.9mph.
